Where Are You Wednesday - Christian Edwards, '09
Tell us what you are doing currently – professionally & personally.
I live in Indianapolis, Indiana with my wife, Kendra, and our daughter, Sadie. Kendra and I have been married for two years and our daughter was born in May 2021. Kendra and I have lived in Indy for six years. I am currently the assistant director of communications for the Indianapolis Colts.
How did your time at Providence School prepare you for what you are doing today?
Providence’s strong writing curriculum helped develop the foundation for a lot of the responsibilities associated with my career. I assist in the production of various team publications (gameday program, media guides, yearbook), all of which require strong composition skills.
What is your greatest professional accomplishment thus far?
As a public relations intern with the Denver Broncos in 2013, I was part of a team that won the AFC Championship game and played in Super Bowl XLVIII. Although we lost the Super Bowl, the entire experience was a blessing and dream come true. Additionally, that year our department won the Pete Rozelle Award, which is given by the Professional Football Writers of America to the NFL’s top communications team. I was fortunate to win the Rozelle Award again with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2014) and Colts (2019).
What advice would you give current students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in your field?
It is important to listen to others. God blessed us with one mouth and two ears. The more you listen, the more opportunity you will have to learn from others. I also recommend being adaptable and open to relocating. Over a four-year period, I lived in four different states (Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Indiana). I was able to meet some incredible people in every place and I’m so thankful for the opportunities that I have had.
Share your best Providence memory.
I have a lot of great memories from my time at Providence, but overall, I’m just thankful for the culture of the school and the teachers I was able to learn from. My siblings (Danielle, Preston and Victoria) and I all attended Providence and it was a second home to us all. We were fortunate to learn from amazing teachers who cared about us personally, spiritually and scholastically.
